Oats All Day A delicious guide to eating oats morning, noon and night

Oats, a Nutritious Whole Grain! Oats are 100% whole grain, which means they offer all the simple, wholesome nutrition of the whole oat groat—including the germ, the bran and the endosperm—with nothing added and nothing removed.

Simplicity at Its Best

Most people are familiar with eating their oats as a scrumptious hot cereal or as an ingredient in baked goods, but at Bob’s Red Mill, we believe oats are so much more. Even traditional oatmeal can be taken up a notch! Throughout this booklet, we’ll take you on a journey to rediscover the versatility and benefits of this powerful whole grain.

What you may not know is that oats also bring these benefits to the table:

Soluble fiber, which may help reduce the risk of heart disease as part of diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol.

• Some may think oatmeal holds more carbs than they’d like for breakfast, but these complex carbs maintain their natural fiber to fuel your body with the energy it needs. Oats are also easily combined with ingredients like nut butters, fruit and more to provide a full and balanced meal. • Have you ever heard someone say, “I just don’t like oatmeal”? Well, not all oats are created equal! Depending on the type of oat – instant, rolled, steel cut, extra thick – and the way they’re cooked, oatmeal can range from smooth and creamy to nutty and chewy. There’s an option for everyone! • Or maybe you think of oatmeal as just a sweet and hot cereal for breakfast? While this is a popular way to enjoy a bowl of oats, oatmeal can be made with an entire pantry of spices, seasonings and toppings to create a tasty meal to be enjoyed by anyone. Sweet, savory, spicy, you name it!

Do You Know Your Oats?

Steel Cut Oats

Bob’s Red Mill’s award-winning Steel Cut Oats are made with whole grain oat groats that have been cut into small pieces on a steel burr mill. A good source of fiber that offers up to 5 grams of protein per serving, steel cut oatmeal makes a delightfully full-bodied hot cereal that is sure to satisfy. Usage: Top your bowl of hot steel cut oatmeal with classic additions like butter, brown sugar or maple syrup, or think "outside the bowl" and go with savory toppings like a fried egg and sriracha hot sauce.

While all of our oats begin as whole grain kernels known as groats, the end result can look quite different. We take these groats and create varieties for every palate and recipe, while retaining all the fiber and nutrition of the whole grain. Many of our products are also available in organic and gluten free options.

Extra Thick Rolled Oats

Extra Thick Rolled Oats are delightfully chewy, producing a satisfying European- style breakfast. Usage: Extra Thick Rolled Oats are delightful in side dishes and create a hearty bowl of oatmeal. They offer additional texture to baked goods like bars and muffins.

Old Fashioned Rolled Oats

Old Fashioned Rolled Oats are a classic choice for hot cereal and baked goods. This variety cooks up in about 10 minutes, with a chewy texture and wholesome flavor. Usage: Old Fashioned Rolled Oats are a great option for oatmeal, particularly for those who like a more grain-forward option. They are also great for making homemade oat milk or oat flour!

Our Instant Rolled Oats are rolled incredibly thin so they’re ready in minutes, without sacrificing any of the flavor or nutrition of the whole grain oats. Bob’s Red Mill also offer Quick Cooking Rolled Oats that are ready in about 5 minutes. Usage: Instant Rolled Oats and Quick Cooking Rolled Oats are a quick, convenient oatmeal option, and are delicious either savory or sweet, particularly for those who eat oatmeal on a daily basis! Next, add the herbs and steel cut oats to the shallot mixture. Stir frequently and continue to cook for 3-5 minutes, allowing the herbs to become fragrant and the oats to toast slightly. Once the herbs are softened and fragrant, add the vegetable broth to the saucepan and bring to a boil. Cover and reduce heat to low; stirring regularly.
